Day trip…

Bubba and Annie were off to Austin for the day and Peyton was competing in an UIL sanctioned event in Castroville.  Leicalady and I decided to make the short journey there to pick him up so he would not have to ride the bus home. What a beautiful day it was! We decided to take the little Spookster with us – she really does travel well. Castroville is twenty miles due west of San Antonio and about an hour from the Rockin’P. Located in Medina County it is a small town with a population of 2600 heavily influenced by the European ares of Alsace and adjoining Baden. Castroville was established in the mid 1840’s by Henri Castro, an empresario from the Republic of Texas. Many of the original sloped-roof homes have been converted to antique shops, boutiques and restaurants. Much of the town has been designated a national historic site to preserve the unique European influence…

Welcome to Castroville!

So many places to visit-this was a converted movie theater...

Spooky must think I am from the Marsupial family...

Leicalady and I could spend days just looking at the relics and junk from years bygone…we  often times have an issue on which way to go…

Do we go up?

Or do we go down?

You never know what you might find...

Ladies hats?

This is more my style...

Kitchen utensils...

Just clowning around...

Leicalady really clowning around...

Obsolete?

Can you guess which one Leicalady had to have?

After picking up Peyton we headed back to the Rockin’P. Bubba and Annie arrived back from Austin and we all enjoyed dinner and conversation later in the evening…(P.S. this is what Dana ended up with)…
