You never know till you try…

It’s Friday night! Leicalady, Peyton and I decided to venture our for dinner and actually it was an ADVENTURE…I stumbled upon a website that advertised Chupacabra burgers! Located in Elmendorf, Roy’s Place turned out to be a fun spot…we drove the scenic route thru the back roads and were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful view of the San Antonio River…

Very peaceful...

After a short twenty-minute drive we were there. You must appreciate the fact that Elmendorf is not known for its fine eating establishments. In fact, they are probably best known for their mass murderer, Joe Ball. Folklore has it that he murdered twenty women in the 1930’s and disposed of their bodies by feeding them to his pet alligators…he was never convicted of any crime because no remains could ever be found!

Anyway, back to Roy’s Place. We drove by no less than three times debating whether we should actually go in! We all decided nothing ventured nothing gained…Leicalady and Peyton were still not convinced that it was a good idea…

At least there was a flag...

Looks like a great Texas "dive"...

"I trust you Dad"

Look closely - Leicalady IS smiling...

Welcome to Roy's Place...

We were immediately greeted by the owner who gave us a very warm welcome. We were introduced to the cook and the rest of the gang…we found us a cozy spot to sit and started studying the menu…

Their specialty...BURGERS

Dinner was served promptly. We all thought the burgers were delicious, perfectly cooked and very juicy…I would label them homestyle. After dinner Leicalady challenged me to a game of pool – I kinda thought I was fixin’ to be hustled…we played a fun game of nine ball…

Leicalady running the table on me...

After saying goodbye to our new friends we headed back to the Rockin’P convinced that we would return to Roy’s Place…I know Bubba would like this place, not sure he will want to visit it though when Annie comes next week…just sayin’…
