Red Fred…

Leicalady and I are pretty convinced that “my daily greeter” (see link here) is a mature Red Shouldered Hawk. We have named him Red Fred…he is a large, long-winged hawk with white bands on dark wings, rusty shoulders, pale underparts banded with rust, and narrowly banded tail. In flight Red Fred shows a translucent area near tip of  his wing. He is always hanging around and actually is fairly friendly…I caught him late yesterday afternoon perched in a Cottonwood tree…
