Once in a blue moon…

I shot this early this morning, 24 hours before the real event. On New Year’s eve, look to the skies for a very rare sight: there will be a full moon, the second in a month – a phenomenon known as a blue moon.  The blue moon will not actually be blue, but it will be exceptionally bright! The earth will be at it’s closest distance to the sun, consequently we get get more sunlight as well as the moon. The moon will also be very close to the earth – it will be about seven percent larger than normal. Look to the skies tonight and enjoy…

  1. Beautiful picture! I’m just glad that I don’t have to stay up ’til midnight tonight to see that Blue Moon! I’ll catch it early –
