En plein air…

Several weeks ago I was in downtown San Antonio photographing “Salsafest” when I encountered this wonderful outdoor artist . He was painting the stage that KC and the Sunshine Band was going to perform on. Despite the 100 degree temperature he was very focused and hard at work…IMG_7309“En plein air” is a French expression which translates to “in the open air”. The term is usually used to describe painting outdoors. Besides being a very accomplished photographer, my lovely wife is quickly becoming a very recognized artist. Her most recent showing will be in Chicago at “Rudy”s Roundup” located in the heart of Bucktown. She specializes in animals.SaritaSarita…Longhorn Calf & BluebonnetsLonghorn calf and Bluebonnets…

She is enthusiastic, dedicated and very hard-working! In all the years of her painting, I have never known her to do “en plein air”. Then one Sunday afternoon there she was was in all her radiant beauty, sitting in the backyard, painting away! No easel, palette in her lap, and obviously enjoying the open air…IMG_6753
