Pearl Brewery to Southtown…

IMG_2331I guess Leicalady had not had enough of her “urban rush” in Chicago, as she persuaded Peyton and I to travel to San Antonio for a Saturday adventure. What an exploration! We decided to start at the new Pearl Brewery development north of downtown. Landmark brewery buildings take on new life as apartments, condos, and live/work spaces. Pearl residences are urban, eclectic, and creative. Every Saturday morning there is a local farmer’s market with everything from fresh produce to naturally fed beef; featuring our neighbor LindaL1010263The Pearl development is connected to downtown via the newly finished Riverwalk extension. We decided to walk back toward town along the river and it was beautiful!IMG_2345

IMG_2369 We turned around at the Museum of Art. It was already 100 degrees and we had all worked up a thirst.IMG_2356

After wetting our thirst with a big tall glass of iced-tea we were off to Southtown. Southtown is a unique neighborhood south of downtown San Antonio, TX.  Comprised of historical houses, converted warehouses and artists lofts, Southtown in comprised of an eclectic blend of shops, galleries and restaurants. We soon fell in love with a couple of their Vintage stores.IMG_2374 I found myself looking for the undocumented…IMG_2381 and the unrealistic…IMG_2372We ended up at the Salvation Army Store on South Alamo where Peyton  was absolutely thrilled to do his back to school shopping! Leicalady and I shared his enthusiasm as the total bill for his “new” wardrobe was $23…THAT was worth the trip…IMG_2378
