Through the years…

Daddy BubJuly 31 has been a very significant date throughout history. It was on this date that Christopher Columbus discovered the island of Trinidad  in 1492. In 1792, the cornerstone of the first U.S. government building was laid – the U.S. mint in Philadelphia. Henry Perky received the patent for shredded wheat. The George Washington quarter went into circulation in 1932. The Department of Health, Education and Welfare was established in 1953.In 1991 the Senate voted to allow women to fly combat aircraft. WHAT ABOUT 1914!! Important for two reasons, World War 1 started and it was the birthday of my father George Russell Parish. Daddy Bub would have celebrated his 95th birthday today. He shared his birthday with a few famous people, including J.K. Rowling, Wesley Snipes, Curt Gowdy and Milton Friedman. All his family cherishes the precious memories he gave us. We all still miss him greatly. Happy Birthday Daddy Bub…
